What is Dan Level %?
The share of your moves that held dan-level strength. A guess counts when it beats the dan's actual move or lands within a small tolerance of it, measured by winrate analysis. It's recorded after you've played at least 15 moves in a game.
How do I unlock the 3-dan tier?
Score 60% or better (best-ever) on five different 2-dan games. The unlock is permanent. It can't be purchased — that's the point.
What does the one-time purchase include?
Every tier above 3-dan: the 4-dan and 5-dan games, middle-game training, and the 3-3 invasion games. One purchase, no subscription, forever.
Where does my data live? Can I sync between devices?
Everything is stored on your device only. There is no cloud sync yet — it's on the list, and because we don't run servers, it would use your private iCloud if we build it.
The analysis says my move was bad but I think it was fine.
The grading comes from KataGo analysis at high playouts, but no engine is gospel and tolerances are deliberately forgiving. If a specific position seems wrongly graded, email a screenshot — genuinely, we investigate these.
What is "shodan"?
The first dan rank (初段) — the Go equivalent of a black belt. The traditional milestone every improving kyu player is climbing toward. Hence the name.
